Bon Appetit from WCCC
First off, I’d like to point out that this blog will be devoted to food and be a concerted effort by six students at WCCC taking Advanced Writing. A few will be blogging on cooking, nutrition, recipes, and others, including myself, will review different restaurants’ foods and services. The second thing is that we are all new to blogging and blogs in general, so be patient with us as we evolve. By the way, my name is Frank and the other five are Ruth, Kristen, Nicholas, Rich, and Jennifer, and we will be blogging on a rotating basis.
With that being said, let me get started. Last Saturday a little after 5pm and after a hard day at work, I asked my wife “What’s for dinner.” She gave shrug and said, “I don’t know,” which means that it’s my turn to cook and that means we are going out to eat.
With this blog in mind, I decided to go to a place that we haven’t been to in quite awhile, Persichetti’s in Jeannette. When we walked in and saw the line waiting to be seated, I took a quick peek into the bar, spotted two empty seats and jumped at the opportunity. The man behind the bar, Lonnie (a cousin of mine), was attentive, helpful and funny. While we were deciding what to have, he brought us a half cup of wedding soup to try and it was the best wedding soup that there is, even as good as or better than my wife’s or mother’s. He then suggested the special (stuffed pork chops) and after looking around at other people eating it, we decided to split it. The stuffed pork chop and mashed potato portions were huge and it came with a generous salad and Italian bread. I have to say that everything was excellent and the portion was more than enough for the two of us. If we had not shared, we definitely would have taken a good bit home. After we finished, Lonnie suggested dessert and I decided on the strawberry shortcake-again, it was an excellent choice. As to how the service is in the dining room, I can’t say at this time. However, at the bar, it was first rate. The food came at exactly the right time and temperature. I’ll have to give the stuffed pork chop special, strawberry shortcake, the service and value a definite two thumbs up.
